  • Develop strategies to minimise the risks in the situations such as late-night driving, drug and alcohol, lifestyle pressures that can lead to speeding or driver distraction and fatigue
  • Develop strategies to reduce risks through safe gap selection, following distances, recognition of hazards and how to respond to them, stopping need and speed management.

Attend and complete the facilitated group discussion module (module-1) and the in-vehicle module (module-2).

We will run both modules in the same day unless otherwise requested or due to any unforeseen reasons.

The Safer Drivers Course consists of interactive activities and engaging group discussions. The course is run in two separate and related modules; namely Module-1 and Module-2. Module-1 must be attended first followed by the Module-2.

A face-to-face group discussion of 6 to 12 learners for a 3-hour period, with two breaks. This module is where you will begin to build awareness of risks, decisions and safe driving behaviours before getting onto the road.

The session will be led by a qualified and experienced facilitator, accredited by TFNSW as well as all the necessary working with children checks in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with children) Act 2012.

Module 1 will be followed by a lunch break

The locations mentioned are tentative, may change and will be informed close to the date.

On-road coaching for 2 hours with one break. This is where you will take to the road in a driving school vehicle (fitted with dual controls) on public roads along a predefined driving route consisting of three types of drives. There you will practice low-risk strategies, as well as reinforce the safe driving behaviours you explored in Module 1 with an instructor and one other learner, who will swap seats with you to complete each type of drive.

This session will be led by a qualified and experienced instructor, accredited by TFNSW as well as all the necessary working with children checks in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with children) Act 2012.

Module-2 will start with a short break after Module-1 from the same location as Module-1 and finish at the Module-1 Location.

Following are the entry criteria for the Safer Drivers Course.

  • Must not have completed the Safer Driver Course earlier.
  • Pay the entry fee $140.00 including GST to Licence Ready Driving School.
  • Hold a current NSW learner licence.
  • Be aged under 25 years.
  • Have completed a minimum of 50 hours of driving experience as evidence in their logbook. The 50 hours of driving experience must not include 3 for 1 bonus hours.

The 20 logbook hours will be added to your logbook upon successful completion of both module 1 and 2. Module 1 must be completed before module 2.

You may opt to complete both modules on the same day. We prefer to complete both modules on the same day. However, if you choose to complete on separate days, you are required to complete module 2 within 30 days of completing module 1. In failing to do so the full fee will be taken, and you must attend both modules at a later date to receive the 20 logbook hours.

Module 2 cannot be conducted with only one learner; therefore, it will be cancelled due to nonattendance of a learner. We will reschedule module 2 for the attending learner at a later date with no further cost to the attending learner.

Cancellation Policy for Module-1

  • Receive Full Refund for cancellations made 7 business days prior to scheduled day.
  • Reschedule your booking Free of charge, 2 business days prior to scheduled day.
  • Nonattendance will be treated as cancellation and No refund will be given.
  • Likewise late arrivals will be treated as cancellation and No refund will be given.
  • If module 1 is cancelled by the provider, you may request a full refund or reschedule the booking for another convenient day.

Cancellation policy for Module-2

  • If module 2 is not completed within 30 days of module 1, it will be treated as a cancellation and No refund will be given along with No 20 logbook hours.
  • Nonattendance will be treated as cancellation and No refund will be given.
  • If module 2 is cancelled by the provider, your booking will be rescheduled for another convenient day. But No refund will be given.

The disadvantaged learner initiative is NSW state government program that offers 1000 places per year to assist disadvantaged young learner drivers access the course. If you meet the eligibility criteria you will be able to attend the course free of charge.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must not have completed the Safer Driver Course before.
  • Hold a current NSW learner licence.
  • Under 25 years of age.
  • Have completed a minimum of 50 hours of driving experience, including 10 hours of night driving as evidence in their logbook. The 50 hours must not include 3 for 1 bonus hours.
  • Hold a current Pensioner Concession Card issued by the Australian Government.
  • Recognized by the Department of Human Services (Centrelink) and assessed as eligible under the Transport for NSW Concession Policy.

You will be required to complete the Safer Drivers Course Concession Application and must provide the relevant Proof of Identity document including your Pensioner Concession Card.
